The newly elected president of the United States seems to be a better partner for Russia at first sight. Barack Obama would definitely not be offending the Russians the way the Bush’s administration did. However, Obama’s skilful politics could be even more dangerous for Russia. Obama has very good chances to retrieve the USA’s erstwhile international influence. Russia attempted to make a threat in return for the USA with its promise to deploy missiles in the Kaliningrad enclave, although Dmitry Medvedev has already made a step back

Barack Obama prepares to move into the White House. He does not know what challenges he will have to face as the new president of the United States, although he does realize that the USA has lost its function of the only guarantor of global stability. Russia has appeared on the other side of the world as the newly revived nation. Barack Obama and Dmitry Medvedev will have to meet each other some day for talks about new forms of cooperation under new political circumstances. Svetlana Medvedev and Michelle Obama will have to produce a positive impression on each other. If they succeed at that, the relations between Russia and the United States will become a lot warmer
